Bud’s Popcorn was inspired by my grandfather, Raymond “Bud” Klotz, who dedicated his life to farming his family’s land in Maple Park, Illinois. After a long day of working in the fields, he could often be found lounging in his recliner donning his typical plaid shirt, bib overalls and a giant bowl of popcorn. To an audience of grandchildren, he would share jokes and tell farm stories while little hands dug deep into his bowl.
All ears, I would listen to his recap of what was happening on the farm. This man worked hard. He was tough. He was a fixer and a doer. Sum total of boy’s dream come true. I knew I wanted to be just like him.
Twenty years later, I founded Bud’s on two basic principles: a passion for farming and passion for a tasty snack.
